Behold the Young Prince

There are Water Buffalo's in Southeast Asia and there are Cape Buffalo's in South Africa but there are no Buffalo's on the North American Continent - only Bison. Bison East of the Mississippi have been referred to as "Woods Bison" and those West of said river as Plains Bison. But Google says their all the same. This big boy loved the feed apples I had so much he was perfectly willing to stand and pose as long as an apple was forthcoming. Even though this handsome fella looks for all the world like your basic 'Ta Tonka' he has in fact a certain amount of beef cattle genes combined with his. He is the prodigy of those 'pure' Bison's brought in from western Canada back in the 1970's & 80's. For the purpose of cross-breeding Bison w Beef Cattle ='s Beeffalo. I shot this in early March as he is starting to lose his winter coat and looks a little bedraggled... Bob
