The town that I like to visit when I go to the mountains is in Sparta NC. I usually spend the night and eat at one of my favorite restaurants while I am there. It is a little town with to me not much to do, but during the day it is busy as a bee. The Blue Ridge Parkway is not far away and I like to get on it and make a day of it. When you come into Sparta the first thing you see is this watertower, I read about this factory and it is quite interesting, there is nothing like smelling someone smoking a pipe. I think they are still in business but I don't know. I guess I need to find out the next time that I visit. Everytime I go to that town I always look for the watertower, I just hope that they never tear it down.
