This is a very beautiful composition - olive green curtain with a wonderful yellow composition and flower arrangement - handsome shadow application - very good detail work - the curtain is falling into a pattern that is helping the flower pot to become the center focus point- the apples are in a wonderful place and so natural in position, just like placed and left - the purple soft flowers are exactly the perfect add all over the places to make the scene playful and alive even the fallen ones are perfectly placed - great overall work, with very good artistic skills - nice job good luck

What a superbly well balanced and framed composition. The colors you used work so well together and your textures and depth are spot on. I like the way you made the flowers and vase appear soft while the drape in the background is sharply defined. This is a pleasing piece to look at and review. Well done.

This is fantastic. When I first saw it I thought is was a photograph with a softening overlay. Now it is seen in a different light as a painting.
The vase appears to almost have a 3 d effect to it, with the apples a little softer. Going on up to the flowers, your eyes are met by sharp clear petals against the wonderfully textured backdrop.
Tremendous painting.

Composition, texture, elements are all very good. The color is so specific that it looks radioactive. You did well in the ranges of tone and value of the yellow color but the vase appears to be floating instead of sitting. The 3 flowers on the bottom look like they are sitting so it is a matter of shading or shadow. Not sure.

Great piece of art. Love the contrast of the vibrant yellow and purple together with the dark green background. Great color harmony and center of interest.

Very pretty and one of my
favorite color combinations.I
don't know how you get flowers
to look so perfect but the
lily's are gorgeous.Love the
richness that the drapes add.Is it me or does the vase look one
dimensional?
Beautiful Shawn~

Hey, Angel. No, it's not you--I was having a hard time getting the vase shaded correctly without it looking distorted, and at 8:40pm, I figured I better quit and get it uploaded. A contest deadline for me in So Cal is 9:00pm. I will continue to work on it, but won't re-up until after the contest. It's for a committee judged contest, but maybe I'll at least get into the top 3, lol. Here's hoping. Thank you, Angel for the very generous review, and for not docking me. :)) I was just in your portfolio, to see if you were still here. Was going to drop you a message, but figured an email would be better. I'll try to get it off to you later today. :)shawn

A great entry! I like most how the gold of the vase is repeat in the flowers and in a darker shade at the apples. Than it reoccurred, in an even darker shade, at the curtain and the reflections on the table. The almost monochromatic is exquisitely broken by the purplish blue of the flowers. Very captivating. Best luck for the contest!

I wish I had more stars for you because this is terrific. Love the drapes behind, your use of the color coordinates and also contrasts. I like the apples off to the side and a few fallen petals. Very nice presentation.

Good initial impact with the yellow flowers contrasting against the back ground and the smaller mauve flowers. Composition is fine. Colours are complementary with good variations of tones and highlights. The lighting and shadows on the apples is really great and I feel if you could in a similar way, add more shadow to the right side of the vase to emphasize the direction of the light source, the vase would have more form and depth. Love the drapes and patterning! It's a lovely artwork that just needs minor tweaking.

Thank you ever so much, Irene. The things you mentioned are things I know need work, but can't be changed now because the contest deadline was yesterday. I will make a few changes before I post it to my other site though. I tried darkening the right side of the vase, but it made the vase appear distorted. I love how the top part of it turned out, but am not entirely please with the lower half. Heck, I may even make a teapot out of it, LOL. Again, thank you!! :)shawn

Glad you appreciate my sugestions, though I'm sure it must all be difficult, I've no idea how one does digital art! Good luck in the comp.
    Cheers, Irene
