Your subject matter seems a bit out of focus and not centered very well, your lighting seems to wash out parts of your background. Placed differently in your living room without the outlet and wood flooring in the photo, the carpet could almost be sand in an abstract kind of way. Nice attempt.

I'm sorry, but I have to be honest with you. The Subject is out of focus, the entire image is grainy, the electrical outlet in the background and break in the carpet disrupt what otherwise might prove to be an interesting and effective depth to this image. You should take these factors into consideration and re-shoot the image.

I love the Zen thing, the gold is overwhelming along with the yellows. Color contrast needed to make it appealing to the eye. Keep working at it!
