That's one mean looking pussycat you have there. He doesn't look very happy at all.

Story Telling: Good potential based solely on presentation.
Artist Notes: Descriptive, capture information has been shared.
Composition: Good POV to place subject just off center and take advantage of slight angle of head as the eyes look downward.
Framing: Good
Lighting: The lighting is mostly even with nice touches of soft contrast that add interest. To increase light for pets, often a small white reflector can help. On my system, this could use about 1/3 stop more in exposure.
Color: Natural.
Focus: Sharp at center. Eye detail and softness of nose came out well.
DOF: At f/5.6, the DOF is a bit shallow (as can be seen in the fur surrounding the head). Bumping that to f/11 would keep more sharp (if so desired).
Bokeh: na
Other considerations:
Textures: fur/whiskers

Hi Deb, overall, this is a nice shot of NicNac. There is ample details, love the eyes and the close-up. It is just short of being a true macro. Using natural light is always an excellent idea but in this photo, the light is a little flat. It appears to be coming from the overhead front. A bit more from the side would have added some defining shape. But, as pet shots go, this is one for the family wall. Russ Cleversley PS: does this review blow our recent bonding? LOL!!

From your comments I think what might have worked best would be to bounce light on the high left---Thank you so much Russ for this great and fun review!!
