sorry Low there just isn't enough interest in the shot for me, this was one for some very low sunlight, or even a go in black & white - haydn

Thank you very much hay!! I do agree, I haven't tried this in black & white, but will try. I shoot film and it is a bit tricky scanning a good black & white from color. I appreciate you!

The photo is pleasantly framed by the tree on the right, but the copping is a little tight on the left side. The profusion of branches are a little distracting

This is a nice photo. There are some distracting elements in it that bring it down a notch. The portion of the fence in the left corner being one of them. I think playing around with the angle would help. Still a very nice job.

I think at a different time of day this could have been captured with more favorable light, the colors seem very drab or depressing, maybe that's what you wanted considering the subject. But I sure you could find a better angle that takes in the whole house. Good work.

This is a well photographed house, sharply focused and makes a fine picture taking up the whole frame. What a great way to be able to memorialize your memories.

What a great feeling this old house has. Technically everything is there. Color clarity feeling. I like that you have inclulded the tree in here for framing. It seems like they belong together. I am sure the two of them could tell some stories. My only distraction was the fence rail in the foreground. But I am not sure given the space constraints that you could have done it any differently. Great photo.

Thank you very much zip! Yep, took 4 frames and all have the post in there but will go back to this place and look a bit harder.

A heart warming memoir but not such a superb photo for general consumption. It's just one of those that has more personal meaning for you and less sustaining interest for the viewer. The washed out sky and ill-positioned stump do detract. But it sure sounds like you had a great time capturing the image.

Hey Debbie, This a nice shot of a very sentimental subject. I think you did a great job with framing the house and I like that you left the tree and fence post in to help frame it. Nice job and great story!

Low, I too was very close to my grandfather and lost him just this year...I know how things can be great reminders of fond times. I am sorry to say that while this photo is technically well done it doesn't convey much feeling to me and I don't think tells the story you are wanting to share.

Shade, I have never been offended by any review, but I am offended by this review, as you have rated this on your emotions, you actually have no clue of my story, further, this is the last house my Granddad built--------------------------------------
reply by Shade on 21-Nov-2004
I am sorry if I offended you....I am a house builder myself and know the work that goes into one. The picture is simply not moving even if the story is and since this sight is about photography i thought it unfair not to tell you that your shot perhaps didn't tell the story you wanted. Just my opinion.

Debbie, this is such a tribute to your grand dad...the love and sentimentality is plus in my eyes...but not enough to over look that dang-blasted branch which looks like a whip...want to reach out and snap that thing off at the eaves :)
