What a litte cutey!! I would love to know what she was looking at. The contrast is great. I really like that this is in Black & White. Great job.

My word, that is a lovely little girl. Look at those eyes. This shot is simply magnificent, and I cannot fault it in any way. The pillar balances the offset of the subject in frame, the light is perfect, and the subject is enchanting.

Nice work

Tara, your uploaded image is maybe a bit too large to view correctly on one screen. It's 1100 x 1643 pixel at 72 dots per inch (DPI) dimension is a bit over the recommended 640 pixel (longest side) limitation. I'm estimating that these dimensions would roughly translate into 429 x 640 pixels if you accidentally uploaded your image at a resolution of 185 DPI, they would then be displayed on screen at the 72 DPI at your present large dimensions. Just a hint when resizing. If using photoshop, at the image size screen, change the DPI from your editing DPI to 72 DPI (Screen resolution), then before clicking OK, change your height to 640 with the "Constrain proportions box checked, and your width for this image will automatically take on the 429 pixel width. Then use "Save for Web" under the FILE menu, and when image ready program starts up, click on OPTIMIZE for size and change the value present to 50k.
This will net you the maximum allowable kilobyte size for this site, and the best rendering for the dimensions you selected.
Now about your image: I love the reflection you managed in the eyes, very clear and sharp. Looks great in black and white, and your subjects positioning and angled profile are very good.
The down side: You'll need to remove the dust or white and black spots from the image digitally, or if scanned, clean the glass. Also keep in mind, when photographing subjects that are have known vertical or horizontal lines in the picture, such as the horizon of the ocean, or the vertical corner of a wall, as in your image, you should always remain true to their known properties and rotate your image accordingly, in this case counter clock wise, until the wall edge is as close to perfectly straight up and down as possible. Water bodies that meet the horizon should be as perfectly horizontal as possible.
Good job here with a few adjustments, top notch in my opinion.
Brian

A beautiful child...and the black and white works well with her dark eyes. A little too much at the top but other than that the expression is wonderful and the little items in her hair are a nice touch!

What a beautiful child. With such big and bright eyes. You have done a good job with the positioning and the softness of her face.

a lovely shot and a fine subject. Full of wonder and awe. those eyes so full of life, speak a thousand words. a great picture and a timeless piece.
it is a little large to judge background, obviously was dark to allow the subject to stand out.
