Man on bonfire

Lovely fireside shot of your husband enjoying the warmth of the fire, cleo.

Love the dramatic reds reflecting from the fire that contrast with the darkness, before contrasting with that beautiful sky.

And what a nice feeling the silhouette of the lone pine tree adds to the composition.

Quite a piece of interesting background on the fires having to be built three miles away from the village. That too makes a dramatic impact and adds tremendously to the photo.

Nicely done and you've created a nice mood - of course you had the right subject matter. lol. Hope he enjoyed being your model.

Thanks. I don't now if Phil is enjoying being my model. I didn't ask for permission. He is the only person I don't need to ask. I'm often surprised that he isn't annoyed with me taking pictures at any given usual but more often unusual situation.

I'm sure he doesn't mind. And I always like taking pictures of the family in those casual moments when one doesn't have to ask. They seem to turn out so much better.

Thank you so much. I liked the sky too. I was lucky enough to get the last of the daylight after sunset.
Sorry for being absent. A flu got the better of me. I'm trying to catch up now.

A nice moody shot Cleo, the composition is OK, I think if there was more of the fire include would have a stronger impact. The lighting was handled well, I like the red glow from the fire. I also like the grain for this presentation. Good job!!!

Thank you for your generous review. I have to admit that I cropped the fire of for two reasons. The fire was to bright and got to much attention. To darken it would need Mixed Media what bis permitted for this contest. Even darkened a fire will always a center of interest. The contest didn't ask for a fire or fireside but for a scene 'by the fireside'. I like to follow the contest rules as closely as I can. But I appreciate your suggestion anyway. Thanks.

This is a very nice picture. i really like the lighting caused by the fire. The composition is good with the tree included. The picture does seem grainy to me though. I like the mood of this picture. thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for your kind review. you are right. There is graininess in the sky but I decided to take it in order to preserve the original colors and lighting. I think it even may makes the scene more dramatic. It also would have been against the contest rules what permit Mixed Media.
