Nicely done with the angle for this. Even though the background is a bit blending, it works ok for the composition. Your focus and the light is also good.

Hello Ahsan

This image, in my humble opinion is not quite up to the standard I've come to expect from you. I have deducted a point for three reasons: There is a light (or sun) flare on the nose, a different angle would solve this. the background is too "busy" and the foreground is a distraction with the limbs in front of the leg. I know all to well that when you are shooting birds they do not sit still very long. Thank you Papasteve

I don't agree with any of your points but that is okay everyone has the right to express their views. Thank you for your time.

Hello Ahsan I certainly do not mean to upset you. I gave an honest assessment of your image based on my years of experience. For the most part I enjoy your images. At least you are not asking me to give back the star ,like another member of FAR does to most of the reviewers that give him less than 5 star ratings. I look forward to your next post. Have a great day! Papasteve

Good shot. You've caught this bird in the best position. Especially I like the way the bird is standing. feels like it is curious about something.

There was a puddle on the ground where other birds were drinking water...this guy was waiting for his turn. Thank you for your time and kind comments. Really appreciate your exceptional ratings. Cheers.

Very nice shot, excellent focus on the bird, excellent composition and presentation

I like the background, it creates an excellent contrast with the Robin colors

Salutations, I'm liking the angle of the shot. I think that the lighting is to harsh and that washes out a lot of the details on the bird. I also think that the negative and positive space is in nice balance in this image. Overall a nice idea and a nice shot, just that lighting thing should be adjusted, did you bracket the shot?

Hello Lucien: Once or twice it is fine but not always. I know you are doing blinder reviews but man you need to be more reasonable. I strongly disagree with you on the lighting. There is no washed out details in this photo. I think there is a problem with your monitor. Thanks for your time and take care.

reply by Lucien van Oosten on 28-Dec-2008
maybe I used the wrong word, his beak looks over exposed, lighting looks harsh there as it does on his head, his eye as well, which to me washes out the details there. You are correct it might be me, but that is what I see on my monitor. I am only saying what I am seeing, and yes I want it perfect, (as you should). If it is not in my eyes, I say what I see and I rate it accordingly... anyway, not trying to spoil your day.. just being honest... and you do not have to agree, just try and see it as I see it, and my one honest rating will not affect the status of this image on FAR.
have a safe and great new years eve... Cheers!
    Lucien

This really is a nice photo. The bird is very sharp and well framed, taking up a large part of the frame. The background is blurred, helping to create depth and separate the bird. I do think the photo is a bit bright. I'd like to see it darkened a bit, especially the background. Some extra contrast or something like that might help. Strong photo otherwise.

If I darken the photo the bird would be lost in the background. Thank you for your time and suggestion.

The robin is beautiful but on the first sight it doesn't look like one. What for a strange game of light what make the bird almost black. The red of his chest is almost disappearing except the on little strip of reflection. The head and wings of the bird appearing so shiny black as a raven. An enormously interesting picture showing the beautiful bird but even more the beauty of light and how light could change the appearance of subjects in or eyes [our the camera].

Thank you for your time and review. What I like about this photo is the super sharp focus and all the details in the feathers. If the image was a bit darker the robin would have been lost in the background. Cheers.

Overall a very good photo, since it is so had to snap such a mobile target. Too bad the robin wasn't turned just a bit towards you, so we could see his glowing red breast.
