The photograph portrays the man perfectly. And BW is naturally the best choice. But if he really has stark blue eyes why not show it in colour specially when he has opened his eyes at last.

Thank you very much Mukherji!! I did this originally in color, many wanted to see it in B&W. Willy just doesn't open his eyes, very rarely, when he did I was just visiting with him, no camera.

Now that would have to be the work of a photographer with a passion, to see and cease the moment in such a wonderful way. This photo touches my heart! It definately speaks a thousand words and you could search his face
for hours and conjure up a million possible tales. Truly a beautiful portrait
of a man who certainly must have a story to tell the world! Black and white really does justice to this one! Fabulous!!

This IS indeed a very charming photograph and I am sure you have captured his character hands down. You are so talented with your composition and angle. I like the fact that this is shot in black and white as that really enhances the story telling aspect. Wonderful lighting and tonal harmony too.

very interesting character shot. I like how his hand is tucked into his shirt. It gives an added dimension to see the weathered hand. Also, I like how you have the US on his jacket. it suggests that he has a story to tell-maybe he's a veteran.

Thank you Maureen!! I strongly suspect he is a veteran, hopefully he will tell me about it some day!

It works very well in black and white LowRider. He's got such character in his face, that's for sure.

Oh my gosh! I love this picture! I haven't seen it in color but I think black and white gives it so much character. How nice of him to allow you to take his picture and I'm sure he was happy to have someone talk to. I think this is truly an amazing photograph.

mostly I admire anybody who can just be an objective person and hang with everybody instead of 'the few that are better than the rest.' Most artists won't even hang out in an alleyway or a deserted mountain pass because they are ruled by their own fear of death. I think Willy sums up a lot about what the 'Real America' is about and this will really irk a lot of your 'artsy' types who just buy their status without going through the trial by fire phases of a the true artist. I think there is a lot of true artist in the pic and I'd like to see more.

I think I like this one better in black and white! It allows one to view just Willie and not get caught up in any other parts of the photo! Great idea!!
