Looks like a simple picture but as always with pictures you have to see it first in order to make the picture. The filters are well choosen and give the picture an old time rustic look. Very nice picture

Your right, you can drive by a place a hundred times and see it as common ,but when you take that picture and show it to someone else they of course see it for the first time. Thanks for the comment Kverhoef.

i really like the old post-war feel to this photo, but the fact that it isin colour is a wonderful juxtaposition of old and new. it borders on being cliche, (the pathway flanked by trees) but in a way that seems more like a reference to a well known image; like its self conscious of what a popular ideal of a simple life it is.

Holden, you had me digging for my dictionary for that one. sometimes the best shots are the ones that you can see past what is stairing you right in the face, and find what lies beneath. Sometimes you just hit the right flow and it all comes together.Thank you for your comments!!

snap, first of all I have to say I love the name you have chosen for yourself. I bet there are a whole bunch of people who wish they had thought of it. But, more importantly, your photograph is one of the best such road scenes I've seen, not only on this site, but anywhere. Your composition, exposure, depth and all that usual stuff is excellent, without question. It is the manner in which you were able to put it all together and do whatever you did in Photoshop that makes this so very unique and special. Congratulations. It is spectacular. (A sincere question, not meant to discount the foregoing: It occurs that this image might have been even more spectacular had you been able to include the full height of all those beautiful trees. Would that perhaps have been possible with a larger format camera?)
Peace, Papa

Wow Papa, Thank you for taking the time to write such a flattering review. I enjoy looking at photos and paintings and this seemed to encompass a bit of both.I have just recentley learned that the place where I took this picture , may soon be turned into a housing development. (not a plesant thought) As far as capturing more trees you are right, the only problem is this rather unsightly mail box that sits just out side the shot,I therefore had to zoom in a little closer than I would have liked. Thank you again Papa ,for your very encouraging comments ,Snap~

Exceptional!! I absolutely love this image. The tinting gives it an inviting feel and the lines of and along the road pull you in. One doesn't feel the bitter cold of winter while viewing this, but the crispness of the air and the crunch of snow beneath your feet. Reminds me much of home.

Amazing. How nice. I love the snow color and the trees layout. Overall It's a wonderful work. The dark color of the wooden roadside block is very very nice.

Thanks Edlwinshot,I found that the darker color brought out the detail in the snow.

Just an exquisite piece, snap. I love the soft, down white blanket that draws out the detailing of the fence and branches of the tree. The accentuated, shaded tree-top line above the pathway of trees, adds depth and sets tone for this seasonal backdrop. Very serene,,,the curve of the road that leads our eye beyond the scene, makes you want to get lost in the photo.

Thankyou Wolfdancer, this location is only up the road from where i live. I hope to take a picture of this same spot in each of the seasons. Unfortunatly with the pace of growth in calgary it may not be there next year!

That would be a bummer :( It seems so sad that we disrupt the natural gifts of beauty for the sake of growth. Kind of ironic. I hope the lane is steadfast in continuing to stretch out its beauty for your eye to capture. Best wishes.

What a heavenly scene, and so unusual to this Aussie who lives in tropical coastal scent. The fence fascinated me, as was wondering what it was stopping from getting on to the road. Deer, elk or whatever you have? and also is this a naturally occuring forest or a plantation as all the trees seem to be the same breed. Thanks. Best wishes. (p.s. wouldn't this make a fantastic jigsaw picture, as would be really hard to do)

Hi Emotif, this picture is just on the west edge of Calgary Alberta. The trees are all naturaly growing aspens. The owner of this property would have carved out this lane way to his home which is nestled in a clearing further back. The fence is to keep horses in ,the deer and coyotes just go over or under. I think this part of the fence is more of a decorative element to his property. Thanks for your comments.
