Wow, this is a masterpiece, Cleo! I also learned more about the story, and it is meaningful to me. I like the misty breath area as if her prayer is a vapor the conjures the divine. It feels very intimate and I love the way you caught her mouth in the midst of a word, as a sign of faith in action. A perfect expression of faith and I would give it a six but I have none left.
Beautiful and inspiring.

Good! I'll bet you'll enjoy it.
And try the metalic settings--they really enhance the look of the paint.
Try some sprinkles, too! When you blend them with the knife they look really cool. :-)
I love all the paper choices they give you.
Have a great day! (Just out trimming the gardens, my hands smell of herbs!)
    Hugs, Sara

Thanks. I'm working already with it but power outs gave me a lot of computer/Internet problems. We had to loan our back up generator in an emergency to the community. I was going to post a painting for the plant contest but couldn't finish it. Well it will have to wait.
But the program is exellent. I have some done on my entry for the define yourself contest.

Wonderful story telling and history to this portrait of Prayer. She is someone that we would all like to know, and have praying for us I would think.

A thoughtful portrait and presentation. I like your mixed media.

Extraodinary photography, The tone and the contrast simply amazing. The framing makes me feel that Virgin Mary is coming down to listen the prayer. Wonderful clarity. I was really amazed.

I saw this in the contest Cleon and had to stop and comment on the very beautiful job you did in the creation and design of this photograph. A Front for a Holy Card comes to mind for me and the deep faith of this gentle lady is expressed in your capture. So very well done and a joy to review...Dennis

This is an excellent character study, appropriate to the theme of the contest and has strong impact. The sepia effect adds to the feel of reverence.

Sepia was a perfect choice. Your focus is wonderful bringing out the age in her face and hair. Great initial impact. I like how you filled most of the frame with your subject.

Very nice close up of this Mayan woman in prayer. I really like the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe just past her. Very effective. Focus is very good with very nice detail on her face. Good job merging the two photographs. Impact, clarity, lighting, use of mixed media and composition are very good. Good luck in the contest. Thanks for sharing.

Wow I would love to learn how you did that! Wonderful depiction of prayer of catholic origin. I love the honesty In the woman's face and the black and white suites it best.

Thank you for your kind review.
Here is how I did it. I had two color photos to start out with. I started with the portrait of the Mayan Lady what was taken through a procession. She was actually praying. I blow the unsatisfying background out and changed the portrait to sepia. The second picture was of a faded copy of the Virgin of Guadalupe from one of the many private altars outside of Mexican houses. There was only blue and black left. I converted the picture to sepia and merged it into the picture of the lady using a transparent brush to avoid overlaps with the portrait. After this I applied an antique filter to all of the merge. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
