Very cute and interesting story! I like the footprint in the making! This is so creative, that the only reason I didn't give you a five, is because it seems oversharpened particularly in the large view. Donkeyoatey

that's funny. How is that happen? I didn't do any sharpening. I didn't realised it as to sharp but we often don't see our own mistakes. I even had reduced the sunlight flashing on the sand using a lens filter to soften the harshness of it. Maybe it's to much hue in the picture?

It could be the download, i have been noticing a lot of halos in many different pieces, not just yours, when it compresses, it sometimes looks like sharpening marks. Donkeyoatey

That is very strange. I checked on my original, the resized picture and the post on FAR and don't see halos but I admit that my eyes aren't good.

The halos were on someone elses pictures, on my monitor the sand in you pic. is really pixillated. I hope my monitor isn't dying..maybe the calibration is off. Donkeyoatey

I like the idea of this photo a lot. the concept is good.

a few things that i may have done defferntly for a more powerful photo..

eleminating the shadow in the bottom of the picture. A darker exposure to bring out the human foot print, seems a lil light. remove the dog paw/leg, it takes u out of the picture and detracts from the seagull and human foot print.

deffently like the concept of the photo and it could be really powerful.

thanks for sharing

Thank you for your through review and your thoughtful suggestions. Sorry to disagree in every point. You evidently didn't read my comments. I don't need to eliminate either the shadows or the dogs leg since I have an image taken previous to the current photo without both. I posted this image for the dog paw in it. I didn't pose thew picture for beauty but for its high value of symbol and story, for the fact that it's include three species. I admit that the dogs leg is not on the most effective position but it's OK if you apply the rule of thirds. I actually like the shadow there since the shadows somehow frame the foot prints. To me it seams more interesting that way then the previous 'clean' picture. A darker exposure makes the already harsh shadows inside the birds and human print even darker what isn't very becoming and may makes the sand look over sharpened. I actually reduced the back flashing sunlight using a lens filter.

you are quite welcome. It is good to disagree now and then. if we all thought the same, what a boring world we would live in. when it comes right down to it, the only opinion that really matters is yours and what you think. Sorry I didn't get to see the other photos prior to this one. Your photos are very good and have a lot of thought in them. Happy shooting. :)

Guten abend Cleo. Wie gehts? This is fine and I think its a good offering for the contest. Three prints as opposed to one is something I havent seen yet so in that way its unique. As you say compostionally its not perfect but it gets the point across well, it has good lighting and impact. Therefore its a good offering, a nice interesting photo. Sehr gut. Nick

I think this is a fantastic composition. I see the dogs foot as your focal point and the rest flows around and points to the dogs foot, taking your eye with it. Great color and use of light and shadow. I think this is a real contender for the contest. Good luck.

I think this is a terrific photograph. I especially like the notes that go with this. What a fun discovery and the fact that your dog decided to go treasure hunting is quite humorous. Great entry for the contest. I wish you all the best.

Hi Cleo, just love the concept and composition of this..great creative idea presentation...personally, I feel the shadows take away a little but dont take any notice..it is just my opinion..it is a great epression of the topic for the contest and wish you luck with it...fantastic idea, great light and colour, a touch more contrast may have clarified detail a fraction better for me anyways...totally you tho cleo..love it

Thank you for your generous review. I don't know if you read my comments, were I wrote it isn't on of my best compositions but a picture of choice. I was thinking if I should post it or one without the dog. I posted it in the contest for the high symbolic value and the best story in my photo options. I couldn't do much against the shadows cast by the dog who came into the photo. Actually I like the shadows the give something as a frame.

Know I don't understand you wrong. I appreciate your review as it is very much. I just think a little different about but that's as it has to be. It woulds be very boring if we wouldn't be controverse at times.
