Love your notes, they were very moving. It sounds like a great place for these children. The black and white works well. Her face is adorable and so sweet. Her hand wiping the tear adds more interest. Center of interest is great and creativity of presentation. slblevins:)

A moving story and picture and I know what you mean.

My wife and I puppy walk for Guide Dogs (Seeing Eye Dogs) and occasionally we take our puppy to our local school for (seriously) handicapped children. The sheer joy on their faces is so wonderful it's untrue, but what makes it even better is that their teachers ask them to write to the puppy to say thank you for coming. A few days later these letters arrive and if the joy on their faces is moving it doesn't even begin to compare with the feelings these letters and pictures convey. The work these very special children put into the letters brings out the tears every time!

We are very, no, VERY privileged to be able to meet these special children.

So yes I know exactly how you feel and what makes Christmas such a special time!

A very merry Christmas to you!

good initial impact a child's face. the center of interest because of the hand is a little off just me. good technique of using the black and white setting on just the facial expression. good story telling ability especially after reading all your notes. good capture of a portrait here.

Thank you very much. The hand trying to hide the little tear is why I chose this photo.

What a lovely balck and white this is Cleo. A perfectly taken image from a technical point of view with good lighting and lovely composition. Good timing too as her eyes are open, which is always a good sigh. Love the way her hand is in front of her face as it shows that certain vulnerability that young girls have. Nicely done and good luck in the contest. Nick

    Thank you so much Nick.
You are right on. Vulnerable. The hand is hiding the little tear what had escaped.

Nice joyful expression. Her gaze is intense and I love how she is looking right at the camera. The one thing is hands. When they come out of know where or arent attatched to anything are distracting. I know its a candid not posed and dont know how you'd get around it. Its a nice shot in B&W.

Thank you Deb, for your kind review and your input. That's one of the cases were different people feel different. But what would be life [and art] if it wouldn't be this way. I have to admit that I posted the picture with the hand in her face in purpose. It would be easy to go around it. I have several pictures of her without the hand. But I just like this one most. The hand trying to hide the little tear of joy. I wouldn't have a story in the picture without. Am I wrong?
