That is very cool. Excellent shadowing and perspecive.Good texturing as well. I don;t know if those are the real terms, but you probablty know what I mean. If I had to suggest something, I'd say some other color to liven it up, like red or orange perhaps? Just a brainstorm.

Very nice. Realistic picture with all the right elements inside. The lights and shadows are matching each other to form a beautiful frame

I'm amazed at the photo-like content of this piece. The use of dark and light is awesome. The figure in the distance that seems to be going toward the light is almost ethereally suggestive...even a sense of aloneness...or is it oneness??

Thank you for your kind and perceptive comments - ideas of aloneness and oneness were exactly what I was trying to explore. It's often said that paintings should say someting but I feel that the most interesting actually ask questions - ambiguity works well in art. I love this picture. The silence, the solitude, the vastness. This looks like a scene that would fit perfectly in my novel. Keep up the excellent work!

This is beautifully done, the arches I mean, and almost doesn't need the figure there. It reminds me of Escher, the guy who used to do arches, but they were architecturally going up and down, back and forward, and no one could work out the perspective. Best wishes.

Thank you for your kind comments - there are so many mediaeval cathedrals and churches to offer inspiration in England; it's part of my heritage I suppose. I think this is a very beautiful and impressive painting. I especially liked the shadowing in contrast to the light; it adds depth and character to the picture and really enhanced the overall mood. Nice work...

you caught the shawdows of the oil canvas with clarity. I have tried this but you capture it as though you entered the painting yourself.

It always seems to amaze me when an artist can capture a photo like quality in their artwork. My favorite aspect of this piece is the shadowed framing that blends the photo out drawing your viewer into the piece. The natural light is an awesome accent to bring rich appeal to those curves of architecture found herein. :) Nice work.

What a perfect picture of light and dark. The warm rich tone of the sun light ing the abbey walk way if great. The brother/monk looks like a statue. If you you take him out somehow, you'd have two great pictures.
