I enjoy the theme that you've placed on this, but I think this photo is overexposed and needs a polorizing UV filter to help the darks look dark. And the light look light but not so bright it takes away from the photo. Thanks!

thanks for the comments, and i did usea polarizer on this shot. it was just midday in the african sun. not easyto get contrasts shooting at that time.

Well it i either tremendously hot in this photo and it bleached all the rocks, or the film was way overexposed. There is a focus problem, due to the glare or the light quality, and I cannot see hardly any close definition. I like the rocks in the distance, but the blurry detail or definition in the forefront really bothers me a bit.

It is a little over exposed or bright. I love the formation that makes the man in the center of it. He appears to be climbing the rocks.

Whoa. This one is great. It almost looks as if it is climbing out of the ground. This would have been better(IMO) in color.

This is an excellent image from an wonderful angle. The detail in the image shows up wonderfully, the over all image is fabulous. Although I find that the image is way to bright which I really find distracting. :)

thanks for the input! i agree it is areal pity that it looks washed out. i can't wait for the opportunity to print this shot in a dark room so that i can correct that.
Comment from Stanbo
This is a great picture though I would prefer a little more contrast between the shadows and the rocks so that more detail was seen. Very nice job though

What a great eye you have, he does look like the thinker. Excellent composition. The lighting is very good. I'm glad its black and white, shows more shadows.

This could have been a terrific photo but was just too washed out for me. Too many light spots that took away the detail of this image. I liked the angle of the shot and the perspective. Also the bottom was not focused. It may help to crop out the bottom.

I can almost see a person running. Very good rock formation to take in black and white. A little blurry in the foreground of the picture and quite bright on the eyes.

Subject matter is great and I totally see the "thinking man in rock" but it is a bit too washed out. I would like to see the contrast touched up a bit. Where exactly was this taken?

unfortunately it is slightly washed out, but it does look way better in print and off the screen.
i took the photo on the south west coast of south africa. there are some insane formations down there.
