Good story. Yes, they are bad acting birds. We have lots here too and very large ones. Good blurred background. Like the branch coming in and across. Nice clarity of the one bird showing its colors. I like the one below in action and blurred looking eerie. 'Enjoyed.

The top bird in this image is excellent in color, focus and contrast and is/should be the real and only center of interest. The one on the bottom is very blurry and should be cropped off as the top of this image stands alone very well.
