Oh, yes, he is a winner! Congrats on his winning the red contest. This is amazing close-up photography. I am so jealous. I can never seem to get close enough to our birds to have a sharp focus as this is. Gorgeous photo. Linda

A lovely photograph of this bird, he has a really comical quizzical expression on his face. The colouring is fantastic, vivid but natural. The detail is excellent due to good focus. Shame about the blade of grass but you have to shoot as it is!

What a very nice photograph of a beautiful bird. I enjoyed your notes. As one who sometimes tries to shoot birds, I too have found that I could use a dose of patience in the quest to get a good image like this one.

Your cardinal is standing on the grass and is centered in a tight shot. It works for him to be centered, since he really is the only thing of interest. You have captured some really excellent detail, of feathers, beak, eye. Your exposure and focus are excellent. I would think about cropping a very small amount off of the bottom. It is out of focus and adds nothing. In any case, this is very well done.

Nice shot, great color and detail. The only thing I did not like was the long blade of grass distracting from the beautiful Cardinal. Overall this is a good capture. Thanks for sharing.

This is such a beautiful capture. The vivid red is so striking and the eye contact is very beautiful. I would crop more from the top to place his little head at thirds. Great shot.
