The contrast is wrong, The focussing could be better, and you have a nasty shadow on the left. Sorry!

Oh boy, it's not the technical part we disagree but the concept. I used [against my usual style] artificial light, even an extra light on the skull in purpose. The shadow and the fact that the left side of the figurine is lost to it and the harsh contrast is wanted as well, in order to emphasize the juxtaposition of 'elegance' and battered scull in tradition with the ironic and contemporary apperance of La Catrina in Mexican art and culture.
I don't understand the focus. The focus is on the figurine as such. The scull is not very defined. It is a rude papermache version as also seen on the hat] somehow typical for the native Mayan influenced versions of southern Mexico.
Don't be sorry. I don't know why you should be.

Thank you very much for your kind review. The light is done this way in purpose as loosing some of the figurine to the shadows from where she is emerging. [I even used an extra light on the scull] The light is harsh to emphasize the juxtaposition of the elegance and the almost white scull in tradition with the ironic apperance of La Catrina in Mexican art and culture.

I guess everyone has there own opinion of that but I do not think it is as the detail around the eyes and the mouth with the teeth shows up so well.

I think so too. I just received a two star rating for it. I think it is not the technical part of the photo but the subject, the concept and execution of it. The ironic and contemporary style of the Mexican calacas [as my presentation in even this style]seem to insult some people not familar with the moking tradition and the very different view of Death itself.

Her attire and accessories add to the skull to accomplish that imagine. It is well focused with good color. The background works well. The best of luck in the contest. Thanks for sharing.

Great notes- amusing image-never have I seen a skeleton dressed up quite so fine-the red feathered hat and jewelry is a hoot-good creative ability- presentation,initial impact is good,model is striking all things considered- lighting is a bit harsh- maybe on purpose- good luck with the contest-

Thank you so very much John. The lighting is in purpose. Against my usual style I used very hard and direct light to emphasise the ironic contrary between the elegance and the almost white skull in tradition with the tradition of this lady in Mexican art and culture.
