That sounds pretty creative to me spooking them to give them a jolt of action. This is a nice picture with a nice story and too bad these weren't there together. The DOF is fine and so is the COI. It definitely has a good initial impact.

Very pretty birds indeed. I love the red one. He just pops out and he looks like he has a sense of humor. The blue one is pretty but looks a little shakey. Getting ready to take off I think.

Nice capture - great moment with the red bird just landing (yes?). They seem to be having a dialog. You're a little fuzzy. Is that motion or dof? Would just have made it that much better.
