Initial impact: This is kind of symbolic. The bowl is in the shape of a water drop. Water brings life to new growing things. It brings rot and deterioration that are not longer alive. Water can help keep freshly cut flower. But no water at all, it is gone. Lighting appears to be flash. Action is the flower is drying up. Creative presentation. Color harmony is simply but good. Center of interest is the flower. Cropping is tight. Focus is good. Depth of field is not in effect in this shoot.
Story telling is in the title and artist?s notes.
Comments. The vignette using white is not good the way it is used. This is my thought, there are not rules that I know of, but what I think is trying to be accomplished. The crop is to tight. Back before it was so tight is where the vignette should have been used. That would left room for the bowl to have to be seen. There is absolutely nothing says vignettes must be either white or black. With than in mind, I would have considered the same color as the rose. Black would not have worked at all. White has a tendency to draw our eyes away from the subject. But same color if done right could have complimented the rose.

Very nice. I like the background that you used. I think I would have cloned out the reflection from you flash in the black portion of your bowl. The rose also looks a bit small for the bowl. Great creativity, though.
