Wonderful catch willie. Looks really out of place, with that wing span in the water. Nice stop with the fish in the mouth and a very large one to boot. Good all around. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so very much! I have the whole series of shots of him catching all the way to swallowing this big fish. You can see the lump going down his neck! It was an awesome day!

You are welcome, I'm sure it was exciting to watch and know you were catching it

Initial Impact: Wildlife - the circle of life
Story Telling: Good potential based solely on capture.
Artist notes: Descriptive, however capture information has not been shared. Providing capture information helps the reviewer understand how the image was taken. It also serves as a learning tool for others. (Note: For Windows users generally you can recover the capture information by right clicking the file, selecting Properties -> Details and scroll down.)
Composition: Good POV to place subject at focal point.
Framing: Good - I may have cropped differently to not have the ice line as centered as this. (rule of thirds and all) - but no deduction.
Lighting: The lighting is even across the subject with nice touches of contrast that add interest. The highlights on the fish bring the eye to the action.
Color: Natural
Focus: Sharp
DOF: Works well to enhance subject
Bokeh: na
Textures: Water drops
Creativity: Great timing
Comments: Overall another nice capture Willie.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks John, I have so much to learn. I had not heard of rule of thirds, keeping the horizion straight, thanks to people like you I have learned a lot in the short time I've been on FAR. I have a hard time on the thirds, I will check the original and see if I can crop it for the thirds.

Sometimes an image works without following that rule. And sometimes, based on the available composition, it just may not be possible. I believe your capture works very nicely as is. /john

Amazing capture of this Blue Heron. How big is that fish? I want to know how they eat it, surely they don't gulp it down in one go. I would crop just a bit more off the top. Great timing.

Thank you so very much! The fish is to big to swallow as far as I can see but yes he swallows it whole, I have the entire series of him swallowing it.

Oh my goodness. I hope it didn't get stuck in his throat. lol.

I've always wanted to catch a bird having sucess while fishing. Our herons never get anything...probably drinking whisky so cant see most until they swim away. Another great capture. Fine detail specially as this bird is obviousley moving very fast. Good panning technique. Water has been caught well around the bird. Has a real vibrancy about it as it splashes over bird & catch. Focus very tight again & exposure excellent once again. Well done
