This is a terrific capture and close up of the bird. He looks like he is chewing you out for disturbing him. Colors and lighting are great. Focus is very good. Framing is well done.

Thank you so very much! He is in a studio of sorts. My hiding spot is about 4 feet from their feeder, my lens pulls it rite in.

Another exquisite picture. This time I don't have enough stars! Have you consider holding your own exhibition locally for bird lovers? I love the clarity in this with all the fine detail of the chest feathers. Lovely colours and markings in the head and face of the bird and you have selected an interesting DOF. Great shot.

Thank you so very much! I am going to start going to a local camera club monday. I am going to show them some bird shots, they look even better printed out on 8x10 glossy. There is one man there that is in the audubon society and is also a big time photography pro. His weddings start at $6000.00. I hope to get recognized by going.

Great shot of this wonderful bird, details are amazing, feathers so perfectly clear in the focus and the blurred parts seem like moving:) Wonderful colors and lighting captured too. Thanks so much for sharing.

    My pleasure.

Delightful little bird. Progressive focus, which in this case, is a pity. In places sharp and clear, in other very blurred. Nice capturing the seed in the beak. I find the frame around the bird too close and the fact that you have not got the feet in the frame another pity. Composition, balance, counter balance and counter point is compromised by this. Beautiful colour, tonal qualities and contrasts. Good subject, eye capture. loss of visual impact and centring due to being too closely cropped/photographed. This would have been stunning if you had just given it a bit more air to breathe. Lovely storyline and imaginitive shot. Regards, Liz.

I love what you have tried to do here, but try to use the guidelines I have sent you and re-edit this photograph and let me know when you have done it and I would like to see it again. Kindest regards, Liz.

The feet are in the seed. I am rite on top of these birds. The dof is very short. There is nothing I can do with the back of the bird. The crop is mainly the top of the frame. The intention was to show the detail of his face and the colors. I am sorry you didn't like it. I will be posting some more. If you have time and want to, take a look at my portfolio, there is a lot of other bird pictures, some you might like a lot better. Thanks again for your review and comments!

I never said that I did not like it, I did a constructive critique, honestly, with blinders on and with the idea of assisting the photographer with the flaws I saw. It is almost like a macro shot which is unusual for a bird shot, With all the faults I saw I still deemed it good enough for a 4. Please do not be dispondent, it is only my honest view, meant kindly and without malice. I will definitely look at your portfolio with interest, as I do define talent and a good eye for a good shot. Kindest regards, Liz.

Initial Impact: Very nice
Presentation: Very good
Colours: Lovely and bold
Focus: First class
Detail: Excellent
Centre of Interest: The bird's head, open mouth , white throat
Lighting: Good
Artist's Notes: Brief
Story Telling Ability: Yes
He almost looks as if he's painted, especially the yellow bits.
