Stay away is right! I truly thought this was a rattler! Am a great fan of using contrast,(and saturation) what a face! great focus, perfect timing on nasty little tongue, like background blur, he is a bit cute, he should have a name, how about Smiley?

Nice shot. I have a cat that kept bringing the same garter snake in the house, no matter how many times I'd pick it up and throw it out. I finally put him in a terrarium with water dirt and bedding and a piece of wood to crawl on. I've never seen a garter coil though. Love this close up you got with his black and orange tongue flickering. Very cool!!

I believe you captured the true spirit
of the snake. The detail you were able to achieve is perfect. It makes me want to jump back to get out of its path. Nice shot

Wow! I love your comment , and your love of nature and understanding of the ecological balance. In nature everything is inter-connected and serves a purpose to preserve this vital balance. That's the beauty and teaching of nature. This too is an excellent close-up. Your notes have taken the venom away. Now he looks a bit friendly.:) Good clarity, excellent focus, great color and fine lighting. You have got your camera eye in well to catch his stare well. Great job again Willie!
