Very beautiful presentation. I like the choice of the background color. Even though the flower color is very close. I like the framing of the leaves. Don't you just love to get flowers!

A very lovely shot of carnations. The flowers are nicely centered in the photo. The green leaves add color but act as a neutral background. I like the drops of water which add an extra element of interest.

Very awesome story telling
The creativity of this carnation is great.
Good center of interest with the 2 leaves setting the tone for the flower.
Thanks for sharing Lou

Another very good flower presentation. Great lighting and you got nice color deep down in the flower. I like carnations much better than roses when it comes to bouquets. Thanks for the interesting notes.

Wonderful picture of the Carnation.
DOF 5

I have a question (as usual) How are you getting your background? Do you edit it out or shot with something behind the flower and do you give classes? Your shot are wonderful.
Thanks for sharing

I do my backgrounds in so many different ways. In this photo I placed the flower against a wall. The background is the wallpaper. I slightly adjusted the colors afterwards in Photoshop. Other times I use my scarfs as a background. I make sure the color fits the flower. I have also taken photos of flowers placed in a dark room and just used torches to light up the flower. Then the background turns naturally black, and I do nothing with it after. If for some reason the background is very busy, I use wrincle remover to blur it and air brush afterwards. I also change the background completely by painting over it in Photoshop, or I cut out the flower, add another layer and paste the flower back on top. I think the backgrounds are very important, and I put a lot of work into them. I posted an orchide some weeks ago. To separate one flower from the rest I put tissue paper around one flower and let light from behind shine through. The effect was astonishing, and I did not need to do anything afterwards. As you understand the backgrounds are as many as the images. I have never learnt this anywhere. I have just used my imagination and tried out new things all the time. I don't give classes, I could probably need that myself. I hope I have given you some ideas about how to do a background.

Well that all helped and is very interesting. I guess I am a bit anal over backgrounds as well and sometimes will toss something because of it. Thanks again for helping clarifying that for me.
