Good capture Willie. Tremendous detail in all the feathers thanks to your sharp focusing. Great DOF too. Colours are lovely and your shot is well framed. Very nicely done.

Nice photo Willie and good you treated them well on their visit going north. Good photo and nice angle and pose. Have you done any work with fill light or wireless flash? You will only get one shot but it should be a great one. :) Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so very much! I was wanting to get a couple of slave flash but I don't think I could do much with the birds! They freak out with a flash, it is like you said one shot but it takes them a long time to come back! I think it is funny, they think their world has come to an end!

It just occurred to me to ask if you could brighten up your shooting area a little, even a stop would help at times. Perhaps add a mirrir, birds usually do have a problem with morrors or perhaps add a couple of lights or cut some branches and other things. I know on bird photographer who actually painted his garage so it was the perfect background color with a few little designs in it. LOL.

Great close-up Willie I don't know how you get so many outstanding photos of Birds, I am sure it takes a lot of patience and a good feeder setting you must live in a country setting. I have tried but just can't attract much besides Finches, Cardinals and Sparrows. Dave

Thank you so very much! I do live in the country. My yard is surrounded with woods! I have neighbors but none to close!

Honored? These birds know a good thing. Food and a photo in one stop.

Aw, this is so sweet! I love the red patch on his chest. You got a really good shot here! I also like the muted green background. Nice, clear shot.

Comments: I really wish I had not used all my five and a half star ratings. I would have given you one. This is a great picture for several reasons. The picture is nicely focused and you used great DOF. I had a photographer once tell me that you can't get good bird pictures unless you can get the eyes. You have definitely done that. I normally am not a fan for tight cropping but it really works here. I really appreciate you including the camera settings in your artist notes. I feel that is the greatest contribution we can make to improve all our photographs. If we study the settings you used and understand how they are used, we will get similar results to this great picture. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so very much! I have learned the ISO setting is the key. Low number for bright sun and high number for low light, however to high an iso in low light will cause a lot of grain.

Agreed. You can also get a similar result if you have the ability to set step down the f-stop and increase the shutter speed. But the ISO setting will aslo work and give you more room to get a good picture.
