wicked shot. I would liked to have seen the tip of tail and feet in the shot but nevertheless this is still a wicked shot. Colour saturation is great, focus is spot on, Love the reflection in its eye.

Thanks for sharing this work.

Another new and unusual bird to me. Good colour and light here and nice sharp focusing. DOF pretty good too. I have a slight issue with the framing though. Looks like you were caught in two minds. Think I would prefer to see it's whole tail and feet - or if you are going to crop, get in closer. Just my view.

Thank you so very much! This is what was in the frame! I guess you are rite to crop out more but I wanted to show as much color as I could!

That's almost a perfect angle on the head. By keeping the head on the same plane with the eye, you've maximized the use of the narrow DoF, allowing both the eye and the beak to be in focus. Good work.

A nice photo of the bird with a original story. The focus is good and the colors are beautiful. The presentation is well chosen.

What can I saw Willie another technically great image! If I may offer one suggestion. I think a crop may improve this. I bothers me that his legs are cut off. If you cropped it just below the black line I think it would greatly improve the composition.

Thank you so very much! I see what you mean! I need to cut off the rest of his legs to make him better!

Never heard of this bird Willie, but you certainly captured him with this shot...so sharply focused with a perfect exposure...not real fond of the composition, but overall very well done!

s always, your bird shots are beautiful, full of detail, clarity and character. Do you use the Peterson Field Guide to the Birds? I was Roger Tory Peterson's publicist for a number of years. Lovely shot.

Thank you so very much! I use Peterson when I need to look something else! I have had peterson around me all my life! I told you about my dad a while back and you told me about your relationship whith Peterson and his wife!
This bird I have known all my life along with a lot of others! I don't know my life list but there is a lot!

Really great focus around his eye - so detailed and so red, staring. Nice colours in his feathers and nice composition. Good DOF.

Thanks for sharing

Wonderful photograph Willie and a super presentation. If you have more image, I would crop as a vertical if not it goes as is. Nice photo any way you print it. Thanks for sharing your time and talent.
