Did you line those up? LOL I like the leaf in the picture, because it gives some perspective on the size of the caterpillars.

Thanks for your comments - these caterpillars can be in a line of 70 or more although there were only 20-30 on this trail. They travel along a line of silk which is produced from the mouth.

Nice shot!
This is great! I have never seen anything like this! Not even on television. I bet this was very interesting to see! Good job!

Thank you for the feedback, the Black Swamp Walk is only 3km but had so much of interest, including these caterpillars and hope to return soon.

Thanks for feedback - I haven't actually touched them but believe they can cause a rash.

Thanks for the feedback - apparently they excrete a silk thread from the mouth and everyone latches on, nature is so amazing and you can get over 70 in the trail although there were only 20-30 in this one.

Thanks for feedback - I try to capture anything unusual when out walking, this time fortunately my husband noticed them rather than me but as they travel so slowly I could set up the shot.

Good initial impact. Remarkable photo. Good focus and lighting. (It resembles the tent moth which we have in the U.S. It creates a web around branches and eats all the leaves off trees. Hope it isn't.) The line up of the caterpillars is the center of interest. Good composition, cropping and framing. Good technique, technical skill and story telling potential. Creativity in title, presentation and artist's notes.

Thanks for the feedback - I believe they are bag shelter moth caterpillars but not positive, they follow a silk thread produced from the mouth and can be more than 70 in a line although there were only about 20-30 in this trail.

Weird! In a very good way. Is it a shed snake skin? The furry edge almost gives a neon effect. Nice colour contrast from the blue/grey trail through the grey soil, the green grass with the brown leave for added good measure. Very nice

Thanks for the review - they are caterpillars and follow a trail of silk that comes from their mouth - you can get long trails of more than 70 at a time, this one was only about 20-30.
