Cool picture the lighting on the water and the way you captured the bird just about to lift off, good dof and focus.

What a magnificent image of a magnificent creature. Forgive me, but I'm not positive of the type of bird this is (stork?) and your notes didn't state it. I'm also assuming this was taken in the South of the US, maybe Florida? I tend to make up stories about the photos I review. It makes me look at them closer and it is a lot of fun as well. The light is very nice and soft here. Just the right time of the day for shooting. I have to start making myself get up early and go out and take some new photos. Thanks for sharing this magnificent creature with us.

OK, wrong bird and wrong part of the country, LOL. As I said, I always make up stories about the works of art and I'm wrong more the I'm right, but the fun is in making up the stories.

What a great shot! Catching him just has he was taking off. The colors and details are great. Lighting and DoF are very good. Center of interest and composition are great. Thanks for sharing this great shot. Eileen

I wish I had more 6 stars to give out. This is a beautiful photo. It's perfect in every way. I love the colors. The lighting and exposure are just excellent. The tack sharp focus and depth of field makes this picture flawless. You should be very proud of this photo.

Nicely done, great catch in time, great composition.

Love this one, caught him just at liftoff. The composition is excellent with the bird against a dark background with the light background balancing it. Excellent sharpness, the colors work very nicely together.

This is quite a good shot, especially with the difficult settings you used. Based on the size lens you used, the speed and ISO is adequate for handholding to obtain the shot. I am also amazed that you did not get much noise in it. Very nicely done.

thank you so very much! There was some noise but not too bad here. Some other shots this morning were so bad with grain that I could not use them! Do you know what I can do to get the fast shutter speed and not get the noise? As you can see, this is really fast shooting and without the fast shutter speed it blurrs!

I would try to experiment a bit with the ISO, by lowering it. Still though, you really did capture a great shot here. Impressive - and you are certainly quite welcome.

Wonderful picture of this beauty. What a neat looking picture that looks like he is balancing on one foot. Nice close up to show of the wings. I love the look of the water as well. Great job!!

Comments: This is probably the best picture I have seen of these birds in flight. You caught him perfectly as he was getting ready to lift off. I have learned from you by doing this review. Focus on the eye and every thing will take care of itself. I will remember that. I am going to experiment with the camera and long lens not mounted on a tripod but using extremely fast ISO setting and allowing you then to use a medium f-stop and extremely fast shutter speed for lighting conditions around sunrise and sunset. It helps me in this location those that stay in this area are starting to get used to me. So I can get closer that I could at first. This is a really good picture. I am going to add it to my favorites. First one for today. Thanks for sharing.
