Beautiful light and isolation of your subject, Willie!! I love the tight framing of this cardinal. Great colors, focal definition and introspective expressive draw. Love the little details and all their beauty and design.

This chick really makes me smile! And the title is even more smile worthy! In fact I love this photo for many reasons, like the red colors...Wow! Very dynamic! And the little feather details are amazing! Cant forget the position of this delightful bird either. Great capture, great contrasting colors with the background as well. One of the Girls is special, all right!

What a lovely shot! Well done on capturing such a beautiful view of nature. What I love about your pic is the detail you have captures, not just the birds expression, but the tiny details like the softness of the feathers, and the hints of red in the crest and above the eye, nature matches it perfectly with her beak!!! The bird is of center, however I actually think this adds to its appeal. A job well done.

This looks like it could be a posed studio portrait! However, I don't think birds do that, do they. This is so detailed, so clear and so clean that it really does look like it was posed for in a studio. It is truly that magnificent. I only have 5 stars, but accept my digital 6 on this one. She really is beautiful. She isn't as flashy as her male partner, but she certainly is beautiful and she has wonderful markings. I never knew they were this beautiful. Thank you for showing us her beauty.

Thank you so very much! You don't see the beauty until you get this close. It is to hot now but when the weather cools I will be shooting these beauties again. Your comments make me proud!

You should be proud. This is a fantastic shot and it does look like a studio shot. That is exactly how it struck me when I looked at it. I start writing my review, at least in my head, prior to reading the artist's notes. I want to have my own impression first and then I may or may not adjust it by what the artist writes. This works well for me and it makes me really look at the work and not rely on the artist's notes for my review. Of course the artist's notes are important, but my first impression is more important to me. I've only been on the site 2 1/2 months, but I have written a lot of reviews and I spend time doing each one of them. It has taught me a great deal, actually. It is like taking a class, really. I'll be looking forward to more photos, but you are going to have to go a long ways to best this one. You hit the angle and lighting just right. Now that I mentioned it to you, do you see what I mean about it looking like a studio shot with lighting on the low right, and soft lighting at that? You would have a young girl looking down and to the right and use that kind of lighting to create a soft look, which is what you have here. Just trust me, it is special, and you cropped it just as it should be cropped. A paying customer couldn't have asked for more, lol.

yes I see what you mean. I shoot birds in the mid to late fall and all through the winter and early spring. I still have a lot more of these girls to show along with other birds. I do admit the female cardnal is one of my favorites.

This is an excellent shot! The up close colors do make this female cardinal very pretty! You did an outstanding job with the clarity of your subject! Excellent photo!
