This is amazing! I love the detail in the ship and the water. This picture has a lifelike quality to it. The sky is stunning! I have tried to do sunsets and failed but this is breath taking. I like how the ship is entering the sunlight on the water because it provides depth to the painting as well as movement in the waves. The sunlight really makes the boat jump out at you instead of this flat image. Great job!

Nice compositional elements, the colors are very nice in the way they compliment and work together to create a visually pleasing image. the ship look proportionally off, it seems a little small compared to the waves, it looks as if the ship is stationary, like the waves need to be breaking of the bow. still all in all a nice image.

thank you lucien for taking the time to write such an indepth review. I thought I had captured the apperance of the waves breaking the bow, but then this painting began because I have a difficult time getting to make water look like moving water. I'll still keep practicing until I am ale to perfect that. Thank you so much for your opinion I am always grateful for constructive criticism I couldn't have gotten this far with my digtal art work without people like you on here giving me insight into what I need to change in my work. I have only been doing digtial art since january of this year, so I still have alot to learn but am having a blast along the way
    thank you again Lucien

Hi Lynkah,

I think you did a beautiful job creating this. Love the action you have with the waves and the incredible detail you have on the ship. The sunset is breathtaking with the exquisite hues you used. I can see why your husband took notice. "Open Sails is stunning!

You sure did a very good job with the water (your initial intent) AND the ship. The details and skill are very good. For my taste though is sky's colors don't match the overall painting. There are definitely skies like that (I live on a boat...), but here it is too overpowering LOL

I'll blame my husband for that mistake LOL, have to blame him for something here can't let hs head get too big or he'll expect me to listen to him all the time LOL
thank you so much for taking the time to review this piece and your advice, although I have to admit even my husband said the sky wasn't quite right but told me to leave it since i had changed it so much he said it was close enough..darn it he was right again LOL

Beautiful portrayal of light dancing on the water's surface! I would have never guessed this was a digital rendering. It looks so authentically painted. Great sense of restless movement, beautiful light to dark contrasting as well as lovely color palette.
