There is a lovely softness to this piece. I like the feeling of calm the scene evokes. How do you like the soluble oils? I've always been curious about them, but never tried them. Are they similar to acrylics?

Hi Gary, many thanks for your very nice review. I like the water soluble oils - they're just like regular oils only the brushes clean with only water and you can also mix the paint with water, so you don't get the lingering smell of turps and oil and as I live in a small bungalow this is a bonus for me! They also dry quite quickly - two or three days compared with much longer for regular oils. I find they mix more easily than acrylics. Suzanne

Thank you for the information about the water solubles. Makes me want to give them a try.

A diminishing perspective rendering of a foliage covered feeder road with colorful boughs lining up the street.
Fine rendering of details.
Impressive strokes & textures.
Bright lighting.
Panoramic framing.
Thanks for sharing.

Suzanne, this is a quite beautiful tree lined lane, looking very serene with lots of foliage. The sunlight shining through and dancing on the lane is nicely shown with an excellent prospective on the landscape.

Very soft and romantic looking lane, which seems to go on forever. Great well balanced colours, nice shadows on the road. Very pretty capture and painting.

Delightful soft impressionistic oil painting. Really shows the soft delicate light coming through the trees, typical of an English summer. Good perspective as the path leads through the scene.

very nice painting...the narrative is appreciated...the lane is embraced by lush foliage all around...the very light overtone of the piece suggests natural sunlight washing out the colors and illuminating the scene...nice work Suzanne and thanks for sharing

was really hoping that you would paint an abstract...so far I have seen mine and Val's and would rather have a more expanded and talented pool in place...the spider contest win was bittersweet in that there were two entries...dont want to submit if thats the case, no???

Haha! Will think about it but I'm really no good at abstracts. We had to do them for our 'O' level exams but I didn't really like doing them! I've always been more realistic or impressionistic. Suzanne

the scary thing about abstracts is that there are no rules really and no structure to conform to...a bit out of the comfort zone but with your talent, anything is possible...would love to see you have a go at it :)

Am working up to it! I go on a Wednesday to one of my friends who also paints and we have a painting day so I might have a go tomorrow. Watch this space!! Suzanne

love the way the lane leads the eye into the frame and beckons the viewer in, great use of light which creates the sun dapple through the tree's, nice use of soft contrasting colours, lovely image, well done, thanks for sharing.
