Yes, your soft color choices are quite pastel like - yet it is surprisingly oil, as you say.
Personally, I like a bit more contrast but perhaps you were going for a more impressionistic look. Cannot speak for you. A dark matte or frame could pop the color and make a nice difference.

Thank you for your review. The actual painting does have more contrast, unfortunately I couldn't get it as it should be on the scan.

It is a really painterly style.
I want to just curl up inside the soft and billowy textures
which you have created for the lower grasses and leafy lane.
It is a fairly impressionistic approach.
The colours are all in the cool range and put me in mind that this is a morning scene or else a shady lane with lots of cool shadows.
You have aded some linear detail in the foreground trees and this helps to define
and shape a point of interest.
The distant gap of light as the road disappears from sight is another point of focus.
The only criticism if any is that the colours and tones are all pale. With this approach and the limitations of a cool palette it is harder to create a drammatic view. But it is very pretty and you are a skilled painter.

Nice depiction of the country lanes, we travelled down quite a few of these during our visit in 2006 preferring not to use the motorways and see the real countryside. This work brings back the memories of a wonderful summer exploring such sites.

This is very ethereal. I love the shading and almost lack of definition. The pathway is beautiful. I like the colors you used and the shadows along the path. Very creative and great technique.
