What a great capture Mary! Great timing of the duck drinking with nice vibrant natural colors and perfect focus! Nicely framed putting all the attention on the thirsty duck!! Like the lighting and the shadows and the foot is just adorable!! Great shooting! I can already see an improvement with this lovely shot!

Nice shot!
This is really a neat scene! I like the way ducks doodle around the way they do! You caught her doing her thing! Good job!

Got yourself a study in browns in this picture! Is that your shadow on the duck? This is the kind of mistake I sometimes make when shooting in bright sunlight. Another is shooting down onto the duck. Usually you get better photos if you get down near ground level, but chances are you will get wet and/or dirty. Are you up to that!

good lighting on the hen and the water. I think by cropping it my make more stunning since the duck is your POV. hat class are you taking?

Thanks so much - the course is Using an SLR Camera Programme - covers functions, lenses, composition, lighting, electronic flash, night photography, close-up and special effects. There are 2 workshops one Night Photography and the other one you take in a prop which can be a person. Cheers Mary

Impact: Good
Creativity: Good
Color: right and true
Technical excellence: the duck looks slightly fuzzy, but close to right-on
Center of interest: Not bad, however you might consider cropping your shot w/more space in FRONT of the duck, rather than behind, because that's the way he's facing. Gives a feeling of forward motion.
Storytelling opp's: you betcha!
Lighting: Good lighting on the head, which is the most important. Would've been nice to have all of him in sunlight, altho sometimes that's hard to get.
Good artist notes. Good eye and good catch!

Good initial impact. Good focus, lighting and color harmony. Even ducks get thirsty. Interesting view of the duck with it's head down and tail up and this is the center of interest. Good composition with sun, shadow, water and stones. Good technique, technical skill and story telling potential. Creativity in title.

This is neat the way you caught her drinking like this. I like the way the light shines on the ground. I like the way you see the rings in the water where she is drinking. An excellent picture. I bet this will be a great course to take.
