This has got to be the best said Christmas painting yet! My husband retired from the Marines after a 26 year tour and was away from home for far too many Christmases, Your painting touched my heart. You have my vote!
Excellent piece and the meaning makes this a perfect piece for the contest
You have my vote!

I like how you did this one. You always leave your name on the blind contests, but I recognize your style even if you didn't leave it on. THIs is me.. family is either dead or far away.. no one around but my hubby. Good details in this. It says a lot.

Wow! This is an amazing piece of art here and you are THE contender for this contest! Absolutely stunning in imagery and in thought! To represent the people who are away from their loved ones is a loving caring thought! You smashed it out of the park here! I know who you are because your talent rings true! Great piece indeed! Good luck though should not be needed! They will not let me give a 6 star, so virtual in my heart though.

Betty, Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Oh I love this, as usual your style is stamped all over it.

Beautifully drawn, its a very very good illustration, everything has been drawn perfectly and lovely bold colours used.

I have never used markers much because of the un smooth finish but you really make me want to try using them again. In fairness I haven't found any medium that gives a completely smooth finish to my illustrations yet.

Your pieces are always so colourful and styalised, and the graining just seems to add character to all of your pieces. What markers do you use?

I love the message behind this as well, huge thumbs up from me

markers i use? cheap...lol..yep ill admit it, cheap...( i have serveral hundred of them)this all started back in the 60"s when BIC introduced Flair markers( i dont know if you remember them). Unfortunately, they only came in 4 basic colors(black, blue, green, and red). In middle school i was making up posters of shows that i enjoyed(mainly scifi and horror). Even though life had me go into a different direction, i still kept up experimenting in blend and shading of markers. I tell you now those chinese cheap watercolor markers are not worth the dollar you pay for them...lol...i found that the permanent markers gives the bold colors, the proper blend and shading that i was looking for(oh yeah the now more multitude choices of colors now) but now you are seeing 40 years of trail and error of permanent markers. I am so glad that you have enjoyed this piece. i do appreciate you taking the time in giving me this superb review.

I think the center interest here are the colors and the anticipation on the girl's face--great job with this. I like the colors and the column that reminds you of a cnimney. Beautiful tree in the background and pretty blue cilor on the house. Merry Christmas!

Just a really nice tribute! It is wise of us to remember those who can't be with us for what ever reason. Your lovely picture is a great reminder. Donkeyoatey
