Great work again. He would have experienced so much in his life, it would have been amazing to see all the changes. Great work again, very accurate and life like. :)

You really have a talent for drawing these fellows. This is another wonderful example of your work. Everything is perfect on this drawing,it almost looks like an old photograph. Nice facial features and detail on this fellow. Very well done again!

I do like the way you are doing these drawing. You seem to capture the essence of the person in the features that you draw. The detail and shading are excellent. I like the way you let the shirt b,end off into the background. Just an excellent work of art.

another startling creation. another strong indian face, with powerful features and emotion. the full frontal portrait is so difficult but you have much life + spirit, with this one. it is wonderful how you are flying the north american indian flag.

again thank you , i did wonder if Im overdoing it , but i love doing then and also putting the stories along side , do you think people may tire of it

reply by Mr Jones on 23-Dec-2011
i think the opposite you should do more and more. i would never worry about producing such quality work and a certain section on FAR is going to love them. you can't please everyone and i was just thinking it's people like you that are bringing a renewed interest to the subject. mass appeal is the very worse thing anyway. i have just run 5 pictures of a polish death camp and would run a 100 more before i shoot a flower or a pet but that is what i do. when i see you artwork it makes me think i should do far more drawings and forget the photos.

reply by the artist on 23-Dec-2011
yeah well i agree with you about the idea of increasing a collective awareness and ive no problem with that and anything i could do in that reagard i would , maybe its because im english and i dont want to be shoving the way they were treated down americans throuts , would seem a little like you posting your death camp photos on a german site if you see waht i mean , but having said all that i know your rigt and i have more ideas especially about the accomanying texts etc

reply by Mr Jones on 23-Dec-2011
yes i see what you mean and understand your concerns. though i feel no modern, white american should feel any guilt, for what happened in years like 1890. it's beginning to be a very long time ago. putting death camps on a german site might be touchy but i'd still do it, given the opportunity. also we all remember the 'sand creek massacre' where 160 indians were murdered (in cold blood) or wounded knee where 200 were slaughtered but who knows or even cares about the 800 white (defenseless) settlers massacred by the sioux in 1862, dakota wars. called the minnesota river massacre.

reply by Mr Jones on 23-Dec-2011
sorry should read 'should not feel any guilt'.

reply by the artist on 23-Dec-2011
yes your right , and well done for showing your work on german sites etc , take your point , so in the name of education (and for me ) doing something i feel dear to me , its carry on regardless then , mmm your certainly know your NAI history whats your name by the way

reply by Mr Jones on 23-Dec-2011
oh yes for sure, that is my motive to encourage you to do so. hey i'm no expert on indian tribes, i just have enough knowledge of their behavior, not to have the slightest romantic notion about them. in regards to the apache and sioux, (the two greatest) well they made the vikings look my mother teresa of calcutta and i'm not joking. my name is vincent and very pleased to
    meet you.

Nicely done. I like how you have a minimum amount of shading on the face. Good details and composition. Well done.

he has a more intense look in his eye, and unlike the others who look down, or have a more pensive look, he looks straight at us
he has less decoration..maybe at this stage, had not achieved as much status
maybe changes in the Indian world were already taking place
I like the strength of his face, the definition, which you have done a good job in rendering
like that we have some upper body to help give proportion to the picture
good drawing

as ever thank you Phyllis , a great review , im guessing to a degree but by 1882 they (his tribe of sioux (especially sitting bull would ahve been on a reservation and starting to begin to dress in some western clothes (the battle of little big horn (custers last stand had been six years earlier)and the indian wars long gone

Looks just like him! Very intense look on his face and I'm sure his life was not an easy one. I love the detailing of his hair and beads, very nicely done David.
