I love the different shapes and patterns of the wood. The green gives you a little glimmer of hope that spring is on its way. It is amazing what mother nature is capable of, great way of capturing it.

Good idea, but the shoots are so small that they are lost in the diverse background.otherwise dood lighting, contrast and good sharpness. Good luck in the contest!

Good eye to have seen these little fellows just starting to grow. Mother nature doesn't wait, she gets busy as soon as possible. Nice photo here on your part.

interesting medley of earthy stuff. well composed, nice natural light, good detail, the eye goes straight to the new growth and then all around to absorb everything else

There are some interesting textures here.

Your title and notes reveal the purpose of the pic, but the problem is that the new shoots themselves take up too small a proportion of the image for it to be evident that they are its raison d'etre, absent that explanation.

I would recommend cropping so that they are more visually prominent. There are many choices, but a good first experiment would be to crop one-third off the bottom, one quarter off the left, and perhaps one-eighth off the right. That preserves a goodly amount of the most interesting bark, and also the curvy wood near the top.

I can well understand your enthusiasm for this scene. Its always a surprise and a joy when you discover the first signs of new life after a winter, harsh or mild. Like the jumble of detail, textures and tones that your work provides. Nice image, well done!

Natures recycling at it's best. Nice shot with good focus and lots of wonderful details. Love the tiny bits of green popping through the browns of the past. Nicely composed to show the regeneration of life.
