A very nice photo but it comes with a sad tale. Such a shame that people want to go out and shoot them for food or fun? Should not be allowed! Glad you are doing what you can. You have a very good shot here. Great pose from the dove in a good composition, sharp shot which is well exposed. Very good job, well done!

thank you so very much! They eat them. The meat looks like beef, a dark red color. i have tasted them but do not care for them. I would rather just feed them and enjoy their visits.

Love these guys, there are about a half dozen in the neighborhood. Your shot is sharply focused and a wealth of details in both the bird and his perch. Presented well against the muted green of the background. Nice composition.

You have done everything right with this upload Willie, it's wonderful and many wannabes will learn from you.

COMPOSITION:

The reasons why this is such an eye grabber are many...you have stuck to the KISS principle eliminating all that is not part of the story out of the image and have left the background blurred and saturated in the true colours of nature, of his environment. Anything man made is nowhere to be found...good. You have rightly filled the entire frame with the main star and have cropped him tightly for all to get close up and personal. You have him at eye level too with no amputations at all.

TECHNICAL
Really, it's perfect, your savviness shines through again as it does in your other images. The light you shot him in is soft and the focus is razor sharp. Your POV is appropriate for this image.

TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS
It's really OK to be artistic with bird shots, not all shots have to be documentary style. In these cases it's quite OK to amputate, but the eye always has to be tack sharp.

In order to elevate your image one step higher from a documentary style try catching the bird doing something other than staring down your lens. Try catching them ..preening, feeding, flying...

Happy clicking.

I love these birds and did not know they were game birds.
This one knows he is in good hands. You seem to have a restaurant for Birds? They know they are in good hands and for your service you take wonderful photographs of all of them. Technical skills are already 100 percent so no need for me to repeat them.
Thanks for sharing this one,
as well as all your work. Royal

Excellent as always! It sure is watching something. The on e branch is a little distracting. We also have them here. I think we have 4 different kinds.
