Nice initial impact. The composition is great. I love the vibrant colour of the flower. The bee adds interest.
The image needs to be sharpen as it is not clear hence the star rating. Background is not overpowering. I really like the subject matter. Thanks for sharing.

Bumble bees are hard to capture. You lucked out on this one. What I would suggest is to try and sharpen this image a bit as it is blurred. Although if you resized for FAR that might be the problem. Either way it's a great capture of this bee.

Thanks for the review, will give sharpening a try but think it may be to do with resizing.

I agree...I have done the same thing and my pictures come out with a blur. I would try it anyway as this is a wonderful capture.

Thanks - have just adjusted sharpening and clarity hopefully this makes it a little better. Sometimes wonder if it is also my eyesight that is the issue :)

This is a lovely capture.

COMPOSITION
The dynamic placement of the flower and bee adds to the dynamism of this image for flowers placed on a diagonal slant give movement to a photo whereas straight up and down give images strength!

You have cropped it nicely, closely for us all to see, it's personal and well done.

TECHNIQUE
I see you hand held it and bug photographers (professional level) get into heated debates about the value of a tripod, especially if you are shooting bees and other rapidly moving insects.

Can you not see that the whole image here is blurred? It is either from handshake, or from breezes blowing, but if we cannot see the stars of the show, being the bee and the flower it just becomes a disappointment (mostly to you as the photographer).

Since you are into bug photography I will give you a tip....most insects can smell us from miles away, it's the carbon dioxide we emit, but some insects, if you breathe on them will freeze...they will freeze long enough for you to capture that award winning image that we as photographers are after.

Happy breathing and happy clicking...this image has a lot of potential...but it need to be sharp as a tack.

The purple flower makes a striking contrast to the bee and the almost gray leave in the background. Focus and composition are spot on. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing.

It looks like some we have her in the United States. Good job with the light and detail. I would liked to see it a little closer.

Hahahaha that was as close as I was prepared to get - although I am assured they don't sting like ours :) Thanks for the comments.

Nice colors and definition, the picture appears to slightly fuzzy, but overall it a good picture. The depth of field draws your attention to the subject.

Excellent composition/crop. Lovely color contrast of the flower and the bee. Nice capture - the flowers really catch the eye, then the bee comes into focus, adding interest to the shot.

great little bee. He seems to have a coat on! I love the way you can see things close up to. this is a good composition and bordering on the abstract in the back in soft tones. love the way the flower is captured too. thanks
