Indeed designs and it's the patterns in nature that give pizzaz to photography if captured by a photographic artist!
COMPOSITION
This upload in large rectangular format encompasses patterns, flow, texture, hard shapes, dark lines and composed into the frame with thought and skill showing us your photographic skills. It's not a snapshot because you thought about this, came close to it, pondered about it...and posted it.
TECHNIQUE
Your technique cannot be faulted. Your white balance is set well since the ice and water appear white (have you seen the plethora of purple snow?) Your shutter speed is fast for you captured the detail in the water, but I wonder how this would have looked had you taken it with a tripod and a longer shutter speed making that water milky white flow against the hard icy patterns of the ice about it? Certainly it would have been an entirely different photo (just food for thought).
I see no harsh shadowing which indicates to us that you took this during the soft light time of day...and although your POV is common it's appropriate for this work.
I rather like it, I like the close crop you gave it, I like how you kept only that which is important in the photo eliminating anything that might distract. This is a good example of the simpler the better the stronger.
A very pleasant photo to gaze upon...sort of feels like spring is just around the corner.

Certainly depicts the subject of contest well, interesting how the ice forms on the sides of such a fast flowing brook. Good composition and focus and shows the thickness and intensity of flow well.

The ice almost looks like lace and has a very interesting form. The fast moving water in the brook adds some nice texture and contrast for the ice, since you can clearly see the brook is flowing and frothing. You have captured this unique photo with good clarity and focus. Expoauew and composition are very nice too. Thanks for sharing.

You are not kidding , this is a beautiful shot!. great focus and the subject is perfect for the contest. Also very appealing to sit and take in. The water is running a little fast for me but the overall feel is well worth that little bit. Enjoyed the view! B
