This shot is so good it looks like a Christmas ornament on a wire fence. The pose is frozen and the bird has a nice reflection in the pupil. The contrast in feathers of black and white are beautiful.

Very nice bird. I like the supporting arch. Well chosen the blurred background with magenta on the right and live like on the left. Colors of the bird very nice. I like the lighting and contrast. Good focus to admire the feathers.

Beautiful shot of this little bluebird. We have Stellar Jays, so different that the Blue Birds, but still colorful and characters. Nice and sharp on the focu, well composed with excellent Bokeh. Best of luck in the contest.

This is beautiful the way you caught him sitting there like that. They are such neat little birds. I like the way you were able to get such a nice close up of him. I like the way the background shows him off. An excellent picture. Good luck in the contest.

1. First Impression: 5.0 Very positive caught my attention.
2. Holds Attention: 5.5 The details in the feathers
3. Creates Mood: 5.0 Soft pastels and uncluttered background set a tranquil mood.
4. Creativity: 5.0 The shot of the backside is creative still getting the eye in there.
5. Color/Saturation: 5.0 Saturation is about right. I'm glad you did not try to help this along.
6.Focus/Depth of Field 6.0
Great combination of complete inclusion of the bird and support while still getting a nice unfocused backround.
7. Lighting/Exposure: Must be overccast. No decernable shadows. Exposure looks centered.
8. Shooting Angle. Slightly upward but not against the sky.
9. Composition: 5.5 Very simple but effective composition. Bird may be a little to centered but head is close to a node for rule of thirds.
10. Story Telling: 5.0 Good notes especially the camera settings.
I very nice bird shot with excellent clarity. I have to give you a virtual 5.5 since I am all out.

This is a beautiful close up shot of a bluebird. The bird is in a nice pose. The composition is fine. The focus is sharp. There is deep color saturation in the bird's feathers.

your work is magnificent. Photographing birds is so difficult I think. I will stick with flowers and mountains. Amazing focus on this beauty. nice background color and blur. good luck with the contest

I'm happy for this contest so that so many beautiful shots of birds are posted. This is one! Bluebirds are so colorful and compact. I've not had any that stayed all year round- at least I don't think so. Perhaps I've just assumed that they went elsewhere in the winter. Your capture is clear and classic. The "perch" allows for complete visibility of him- great shot. Good luck in the contest.
