This is an emotive shot. You can feel the sadness.. your POV.. is superb.
Loving the colors.. the lamp posts.. vanishing perspective... it works!
Fab shots!

This is a very powerful, sadly historical, very moving, and a very 'stirring of the emotions' picture that you have produced.
Even though I am not of Jewish heritage, and I have not personally experienced the terrible tragedy of the Holocaust, I have Jewish friends who have shared with me their ancestors' tragic experiences of being in concentration camps, of losing loved ones in the concentration camps. I have also visited The Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.- coming away from there forever changed by viewing artifacts of humans' inhumane, cruel treatment of other humans.
Thank you for producing this standing memorial of a LIVING NIGHTMARE OF PURE EVIL in history that must NEVER happen again!!

Thank you very much for the lovely review, the comments and the generous rating. Yes, this was indeed a horrible place, but I am very glad I had the opportunity to see Auschwitz with my own eyes.

Was at Dachuse,( probably spelled wrong) in Germany and truly a horrible and eerie experience and can imagine how you felt to see this lasting impression on the horrors of these camps! The image shows all the terrible crime against humanity with excellent clarity and framing! Best of luck in the contest!

Thank you, wanted to forget I ever saw it Annie! What a creepy hair standing up on my back feeling. Almost like I could feel the suffering from so long ago!

Very very nice. I think I like this one even better than the last one. The colors absolutely intensify the effect on this picture and make this a very well designed photo and almost makes it seem like it was painted.

I think that no matter how many times we've heard about it, read about it, talked about it, what human beings did to each other in that time and place, will never stop being a source of complete horror.
In a way I find your picture so well composed, lighted, colored with an eveness of tone, so formally satisfying, that it almost belies the grimness of that place. The clarity of the lines, the pretty trees at the back of the picture, the nice perspective...
I know you need these things for a good photo, and you have done this well, and you're are an excellent candidate for the contest.
I guess it's me needing to get past how things look now to what they were in the past. The barbed wire still stands and the dark brick, and the guard house at the end. That should be enough to make this remnant of the past real.

You did an amazing job capturing the cruel and painful feelings of that place. It feels so dismal and awful, and so you made a great choice in the textures and faded colors. Great job!

You have captured a memorable image of this somber scene. Fading the colours adds to atmosphere. The use of perspective draws the eye right into the picture. The snow reminds us of the conditions innocent people suffered through. A very thought provoking photo. Mitch

This a very hard photo for me to see, since I live in Israel in a kibbutz that was build by people that survive this horror's place, still I think it is very important to show and remind person around the world of this

Thanks for sharing

The sepia tone really adds to the
Image. This looks like a walk
That many have walked. The
Ghosts of those that passed thru there speak to us, that we must never forget.
