I am not a big army/ war phanatic, but this is just a stunning drawing of love and reuniting. It's a bit over the top with the burning buildings and the cemetary and all. and the medals. you don't have to protray war to see that this reunion is real and from the heart. great work.

I actually did the point I was trying to make was that your drawing was so good of the 2 people hugging that you did not need all the extra stuff to show us why they are hugging. you are that amazing.

that maybe true to some but heck i am a story teller,,,really not a good writer but i can do it thru art...by themselvse just seem too simple to me ....have a great day.

please believe me when i say i was touched right away by this - and the very first feature that grabbed my attention was the soldier's head bent ever so slightly where you can see his chin double (as opposed to a double chin - if that makes sense). that's what guys do! at first i thought i saw a staircase - then i realized it's a cemetery. good visual there - especially with the tank. I read your artist's notes. when i was a very young girl i used to walk my dad to the corner (he worked shift work at a steel mill a few blocks away). i would kiss him good-bye and then cried as i "walked" my tricycle home. i prayed that he wouldn't have to go to work again. i can't imagine how the families of our soldiers - and the soldiers themselves - feel.

you are very welcome. my dad served in the navy and he has always talked about the traveling - turkish coffee in istanbul, something else in trieste, but it wasn't until very recently that i asked him about his actual service. he still fits into his navy uniform and that was many years ago. he has his medals tucked away. seeing this today i think impacted me more than had i not asked my dad about his time in the navy - not the traveling, but his time aboard ship. i'm so proud of him and all others who risk their lives for our freedom. ha. didn't mean to go on and on but when something touches me, i have to express myself!

As a veteran that served overseas this hit home. You are perfectly precise in you description and this is a work of art I would be proud to display.

I agree and have been there with my own family members. This drawing will trigger a lot of feelings and memories, but that is good - we should remember and it is ok to feel and express our feelings.
I won't preach here, so I will just say that the expression on this wife's face is very accurate. The love, feeling of safety, and extreme relief is felt all at once. Much has been lost, and many have survived, but it is unfortunately not over yet.
