Mark - thank you for your well written moment to reflect on the emotion related to our military. My son served 6 years in the Air Force and I shed a tear as well as prayed every-night. Reading your notes brought yet another tear to my eye. The sacrifice is shared by the family for sure and the constant worry takes years off of ones life. Your right - I did not give a shit about politics, International Human Rights, our Flag, Our Policy - I just wanted my only son out of harms way. You have posted a wonderful illustration that speaks many words and stirs heartfelt emotion in just one visual. Thank You, Thank you for serving and have a wonderful July 4th Holiday.

All who serve our country deserve this kind of respect and the vets especially. I lived in DC area the majority of my life and the majority of our neighbors and friends were serving or vets. Helped me appreciate what they do and who they are. Thanks for posting this one again.

    Mark,
It's a beautiful picture full of pride & emotion in which I'm sure at that very moment both of them are breathing & big sigh of relief which you picture so beautifully depicts. created with love & very skilful draftsmanship, beautiful choice & blending of your colours as you apply them in the creation of this art work.

Uh oh!! goddamn FAR has messed up and not uploaded the image again. It doesn't seem to like you very much with regards to this and I'm gutted as I was looking forward to this one!! have a firm word with admin or edit and repost is what I suggest, and I look forward to seeing the piece when they've got their act together!!!!

Mark,
Thank you for what you did in Vietnam. I hope you never had to deal with PTSD. I have a friend in chat who had a horrific time in Iraq. Hope he is okay.
I salute you!

the difference in nam if a soldier is wounded they are sent home for good. in the Iraq and afghan conflict the guys are patched up and sent back thanks to wonderful medicine today..i think they have it tougher today. the only we put up with back in the day is the insults from fellow American citizens. thanks for the great review

I love how so many of your works touch on social issues and current events. This is very well done and I really like how, through their expressions, you were able to reveal their emotions so clearly.
