Willie, your certainly on the right track.. It looks like the light is coming through the flower pedals in the front flower. Really nice work, I am jealous for our flowers wont come out for. Another two weeks or so. Upper background light a bit on the blowout side but does not hurt the overall photo. Thanks for sharing... Royal

I agree I love this photo. It gives it a very painterly look. the image repeats but it isn't the same. Bacground is very interesting too. Great framing, color, contrast and design.

I like the back lighting Willie, and you have good detail in the petals, but there is something not quite right. The composition has been spoilt by the cut off leaves on the right hand side and my eye is led out of the frame by the blue streak top right. If the white area had contained more of the pale blue I think the petals would have had more impact Mitch

I was just playing around! I was thinking about using the lower left background in the blown out section. What do you think?
reply by Mitcham on 19-Mar-2012
No I think that would be too dark.Try to get more of the pale blue, even if it means importing another sky. Mitch

    Thanks! I will try that!

It certainly does look different willie, just not sure that I like the blown out background or the tone of the white petals. They look dull and I don't feel the lighting does the flower justice. Always good to try an unusual look though.

Thank you! Just playing around! I was not sure if I liked it or not! I think maybe if the blown out sky looked like the lower portion of the background it may look a lot better.

It is a little different lighting, but very good. I think your presentation is very nice shooting it at eye level. The split BG sure helps to make them stand out. It is always fun to play around like this.

Oh I like this photo as it different to the usual photos of daffodils. It looks like the daffoils are holding thier skirt ups to do a curtsy. A another type of daffodils I haven't seen before. very nice

No thanks it hurts my eyes. Willie this would look good with a vignette to kill the top and left it is pretty bright. Otherwise it is good I like the backlighting.
Good focus
Good lighting
Good composition
Good initial impact
Good center of interest
Good overall presentation
Thanks for sharing. Dave

Thank you Dave! I am going to play with it and tone down the brightness some!

The backlighting has worked very well with the front flower. It has highlighted a lot of wonderful details and brings out the subtle colors. Well done.

I like the look of this to..how the light shines through and we can see shadows on the petals. and the stem of one through the petal of the other.
The texture of the petals shows so clearly.
nice composition..one behind the other.
The blue color on the right in the backround is nice, but the white backround doesn't really enhance. It might highlight the flowers more with something either darker or with color behind.
