Cleo I was just meandering through your portfolio and stumbled upon this image that jumped out at me and I wanted to tell you how it made me feel.
It's morning here in China and the sun is shining through our windows and I can hear the school children laughing in the yard. This image and the happiness of life just go together hand in had.
I like the airy lightness of your drawing and the solid connection of the hummer's eye with us. That pink flower in the background marries well with the wings as both have dynamic movement drawn.
There is a sweetness to this image, a joy to behold, a reason to smile and just like this photo I know my day will be a good one, full of happiness....hope yours is too.

This is a great job! I love the soft colors and the simulated texture in everything visible. Did you use a grid technique? Like the motion in the hummingbird's wings as well. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for your encouraging review. It is digitally painted but in a similar technique to traditional painting. What you see as grid is probably the edge tail of the palette knife.

The colors you have chosen are so delicate, making the flowers as elusive as the hummingbird. Beautiful work of art. Very nicely done.

The humming bird is centre of interest, you have done those wings wonderfully. The flowers in the foreground have some details - stamens and textures. The leave adds interest. The flower in the background creates a great background.All the colours blend in harmony. Well done and thanks for sharing. Good luck in the contest!
