This is a beautiful photo of tulips and I really like the contrast between the red and the white tulip. The pale blue background is perfect, but I think it would be better with another color of the frame. Still it is so thin that it doesn't take away attention from the photo.
The white tulip in the foreground is the sharpest of the two, but is nice details in both of them. The exposure is spot on and it is not a trace of over exposure in the white petals.
I also think the way you placed the two tulips within the frame works well and I like they are bending over a bit. The cropping works well, but personally I would have added just a tad more negative space at the top since the white tulip is almost touching it. I think this is a well taken photo and I wish you luck with the contest.

Thank you Annie for your thoughtful and honest review. I think you are saying it's a nice image, but not special, and it's like you went through the elements of what makes a good photo trying to understand why it doesn't work for you. Is that right?

You are wrong. I like this photo a lot. I just think it is small things that could be improved, as the negative space at the top and the red framing. I think the red and white together is both striking and effective. One thing I did not mention in my review, is that the background could be even smoother. This is just the way I am reviewing.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean what I said in a bad way. I am open to criticism and welcome it. That's fine. In fact, I thought you were trying to say what you didn't like nicely and I was encouraging you to be more direct. Sorry for the confusion. Peace. I think you write an awesome thoughtful review that I am always very impressed with. Really. Thanks. Paula

I did not take it in a bad way either. I can be very direct if I think something doesn't work, but I never reduce stars because I don't like an image. I look at how it is executed. You have probably seen the photo of the fence with a nail. In my review I wrote that the subject matter did not appeal to me at all. Still the photo got 5 stars from me because it was well done. Anyway, thank you very much for your kind words. I am glad you like my reviewing.
