Wow!! Awesome awesome shot!! You must have a world of patience!. Fantastic clarity/focus. Light is great. Well framed/composed. I love that the background is out of focus - it emphasizes the subject. Great work!

A well captured and cropped Photo. The is no distracting background and one is drawn straight to the Woodpeckers eye. Its also very sharp. Great photo.

This is an amazing capture - well done you. I love the clarity of the eye and the sharpness of the plumage. And that beak looks as though it could do some real damage! Excellent - very real.Well done and good luck in the competition.

The beak points one direction, the eyes another. How does a bird function like this? Beautiful soft background colour. Cyn

Thank you so very much! They will hold their head sideways to see in front. The eyes are on the side so they can see danger coming. Hawks and eagles have eyes in front.

Beautiful photo. The birds head stands out well. Good use of depth of field to get the uncluttered out of focus background with no distractions.

I certainly how you got a very nice close up of this guy. You can see the details of his feathers and the dirt on his beak quite perfectly. Thanks for sharing

Nice, clean shot. I like the catch eye lighting and the overall brightness of the image. There's plenty of interesting detail to look at.
