I have studies this print for quite some time and I still can not make up my mind if the ship is floating on a bed of foam or hoover on top of the waves.
It all seems like a dream ship, there is no wake behind the vessel, its obviously sailing hard for the wind but the flag is streaming against the wind.
The colors I like, with a clear horizon line, but a sky to blue to be true.

first off I have to say how honored I am that you actually really took the time to 'SEE' this paintings. I have a lot of work in this but there just seemed to be something off no matter how much work I put in it, it just wasn't right. If pulled up close you'll see the detail on the deck but even with that it was either the color or the water, and I noticed you build models so I think you FINALLY really hit what has been wrong all along. It's Reviews like this when someone really studies the piece before giving negative critiques that are the best reviews. I can't tell you how honored I am and how pleased you have made me. I thank you deeply for your insight into this painting, now only if had you sitting here beside me so I could fix these issues that would be perfect LOL.
    thank you again

p.s. please feel free to look at my other work any advice is always appreciated

When I studied at the Academy of Arts in The Hague we had a professor who always said to study a painting or photograph thoroughly and think about what the artist had in mind. Obviously you wanted to create the sailing Cutty Sark at the high seas and you did very well. But you should also, before, or while you created your picture, study a ship, any ship, when it moves and how it moves through its element, the water.
Again, I like it as a whole, compliments.

All I can say is WOW! Your work is so detailed and beautiful. I think you must have the patience of job to do all those fine ropes on the sails and your shading is perfect. This could easily be mistaken for a photo too.

Thank you skyangel, one compliment for another LOL will admit those ropes took forever to do. Luckily my husband builds these types of models so he helped me by telling me which rope goes to what. I use different photos of models, but talk about pixaliated..So I was guessing at first, then went to him for help. Had to redo quit a lot, should have asked him to begin with LOL
Thanks for the stars and compliment

I like the brightness and colors of this picture very much.
The different shades of blue and the contrasting pinks are very pretty.
Like the definition of the sails, their shape and how they look blowing in the wind.
All the other details of the boat are interesting to view and precisely done.
I think the facing you've chosen works, because we really see the boat and it's sails well.
And in this case, I think the central placing works too.
I'm not sure about the texture of the whites around the base of the ship. I'd probably go for a slightly more defined texture.
I'm also 50/50 about the use of all the white behind the boat. I don't know.
Still, even with these critiques, I like the picture very much.

Thank you filly. I have to agree with you about the white behind the boat. It seemed off to me also. I tried to make it darker but it took away from it, then went with a shade darker but lighter than the front and I still thought it seemed off, not sure which way to go but I have to agree that I think the white is too much.
Thank you for looking so deeply at this painting and the critique it is deeply appreciated along with the complements
