Wow sitting here and so hot out but sure know what snow is all about! A wonderful shot with the what looks like hoer frost encasing all the trees. Nice sharp focus with great d.o.f. to make the horizon seem to go on forever. Love the framing and the post card like view of the beauty of snow. Great shooting Blairwatcha!

what doesn't this picture have to delight the eye is the question. I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous blue sky and the clouds. Then my eyes travel down the mountain range feeling the shade of the clouds as they pass overhead.
Once on the valley floor one feels alone but not lonely in the stillness of the surrounding beauty.
The clarity and depth of field just draws you in. I love that a person could look at this photo many times and find something they didn't notice the last time they looked.

Thanks so very much for that thoughtful review! I really hate winter, but this was taken in early May, just after a snow, so it was pleasant outside. I've looked at this a number of times and found something new at times too. Thanks again for your kind review and generous score!

I'm very new to photography so don't know the technical terms but know what I like. I think most people buy art based on the thought or emotion it evokes.

i'd be in heaven if i had a winter like that just once! Its winter here now and i rarely have to wear a cardigan or jacket. Mostly just summer blouses. this is just wonderful as far as framing, colours, textures, techs and edit goes. Magnificent!

Thanks so much for your kind words! I've been working outdoors for 40 years and winter is something I dread to see! It does however offer some of the prettiest pictures. Thanks so much again!

can't imagine how hard it would be to work outdoors in those freezing conditions.

Beautiful peaceful mood captured here. The details and the softness of the colors with the blue sky above is lovely. Love the shadows cast by the mountains.

This is beautiful and very deserving of a six but I have no more to give this week. The clarity and lighting are brilliant and the colors are beautiful. Thanks for sharing! -Sherry

Thanks Sherry for your kind thoughts! My first couple of weeks here, I'd run out of sixes the first too days. I've learned to ration them now to where sometimes I have them left over at the end of the week. Funny! Thanks once again.

reply by shallemeier on 22-Aug-2012
Yes, I know what you are saying! I try to keep from giving too many out in the beginning also! Irthink we should get a few more because some people on here deserve a six almost each time. -Sherry

One thing I've asked for, but hasn't happened, even more than the 6 per week, the restriction of only two 6's per artist per month is the one that really stinks, for the reason you just gave! Thanks again. If you feel the same, it doesn't hurt to pass on a note to them. Tom is pretty open to suggestions.

I like mountains. This is a great initial impact image of them. Everything fits together so nicely. Nicely composed with good focus, detail and doff. A pleasure to review. Sam

Sam, thank you so much for your kind words and very generous score! I've liked this photo since I've taken it but I'm really surprised at how many 5+'s I've gotten. I think you and others have been more generous than I might have been. Maybe it's just that I've looked at it for so long too. Thanks again!

Well done scenic shot my friend, and yes I did need to cool off and it worked, thanks.

Tremendous amount of flowing lines you created in this post, from the bottom to the top your eye are consistently on the move, which is a test of a great photograph.

This would look good on a greeting card or perhaps a inspirational poster, well put together image.

A beautiful blend of colors in a natural snowy mountain setting. The blend of mountaintop copper color with snow is especially attractive to the eye. The viewer is presented with a most peaceful winter setting.

Great photograph. Vivid color from the sky on down through the mountains & towards vegetation & snow filled ground. Great dynamics of composition. Photography captures earthly beauty.
